Drivers watched in horror as the 61-year-old found himself between the two traffic barriers and fell over in the middle of the tracks.

Fortunately the man made it to the other side of the track and was hauled over the barrier by Laura Robinson, who was waiting with her two children.

Megan Stammers: Runaway schoolgirl found with teacher in France

Missing Megan Stammers has spoken to her parents on the phone after being found with her teacher in France.The 15-year-old, who had been on the run for eight days with Jeremy Forrest, is expected to be reunited with her family in the next 24 hours.

Her stepdad Martin Stammers said this afteroon: "We just can't wait to be reunited with her. Our family are overjoyed at the outcome. As you can imagine it's been an absolute emotional rollercoaster."




Maths teacher Jeremy Forrest, 30, is in custody in France after being arrested on suspicion of child abduction.  Forrest was expected to appear before a French court on Tuesday.

Police swooped on the pair at lunchtime as they walked through Bordeaux.

They were spotted in the town yesterday by a member of the public who recognised Forrest from television coverage, chief inspector Jason Tingley from Sussex Police said at a press conference.

It was the third potential sighting of the pair in the city, and they were tracked down shortly after midday.

Mr Tingley said: "Megan is now in the care of British consular staff and Sussex Police child protection team officers. She will be returned to the UK to be with her family.

"Jeremy is in custody in Bordeaux after his arrest and the process of his extradition will now commence."

Megan, from Eastbourne, East Sussex, was reported missing when she failed to turn up for school last Friday, and it emerged that she had travelled with Forrest to France the previous evening, sparking a highly publicised search.

Forrest's parents Jim and Julie Forrest said in a statement: "We are pleased that Megan and Jeremy have been found safe and well. This has been an ordeal for all the families concerned.

"We would like to thank Sussex and the French police as well as the British media for their assistance.

"We are relieved that the search is finally over and everyone can now focus on a safe and secure return for them both."

Barfi!, India's official entry at the Oscars 2013, is not so unique after all. Videos uploaded on several websites, notably YouTube, have gone viral over the past couple of days revealing plenty of scenes in the film that appear to have been copied frame for frame from past international hits.

To begin with, the very script idea seems inspired by the 1993 Johnny Depp-starrer, Benny & Joon, a film about a mentally ill girl finding love with an eccentric man.



In Barfi!, Priyanka Chopra plays an autistic girl who falls in love with Barfi, a deaf and mute boy played by Ranbir Kapoor. There are other resemblances too.

The hilarious ladder sequence at the start of the film is one such example.

It was revealed that another teacher at the school was jailed three years ago for grooming and sleeping with two girls, aged 15 and 16. The former chairman of governors is also due to stand trial on multiple accusations of child sex offences;

Forrest's former school, Bishop Justus in Bromley, Kent, could now be forced to investigate his time there.

Megan's distraught mother Danielle Wilson and stepfather Martin Stammers have said they are in a 'living hell'.

The teenager left her home in Eastbourne last Thursday afternoon after telling her mother she was going to stay overnight at a friend's house.

Her school raised the alarm after she and Forrest failed to turn up the next day and CCTV later caught the teacher's black Ford Fiesta heading to Dover with Megan in the passenger seat.

The images of the couple on the ferry -- Forrest in jeans and tracksuit top, Megan in short black skirt -- were made public in the hope of encouraging witnesses to come forward with information about their possible whereabouts.

But there has not been a single sighting of the pair anywhere in France and no trace of them using their mobile phones or accessing cash machines, according to the French authorities.

There were 34 arrests and many others were taken to area hospitals, many injuries were from flying glass, after the uninvited party-goers tried to break through a cordon of 500 police, including 250 riot police, who closed off the street to the girl's home in Haren, 93 miles northeast of Amsterdam.

At least one car was set on fire, the local Albert Heijn supermarket was broken into and looted, dozens of business premises had their windows broken, street furniture was damaged, and the police fought running battles with rioters before order was restored early on Sunday morning.

Missing teenager has run off with teacher

Police searching for a 15-year old who has gone missing, say she may have gone to France with a 30-year old man who is believed to be one of her teachers.Police have appealed to Megan Stammers and Jeremy Forrest to make contact.




It is believed that Mr Forrest is a maths teacher at the same school that Megan attends, Bishop Bell C of E School in Eastbourne, East Sussex. There have been no reported sightings or contact with the pair since they vanished, and Sussex police were last night pursuing "critical lines of inquiry".

The alarm was raised at midday on Friday after Megan failed to turn up for school. Nine hours later she crossed from Dover to Calais, sparking an appeal to trace her.

Police have said they do not believe Megan is at risk but they are in contact with the French authorities in an effort to reunite her with relatives. Her father, Martin Stammers, said on Saturday: "We just want Megan to make contact with us. We are worried and miss her terribly. Please get in touch, Megan."

A website - http://www.meganstammers.com/ - has also been set up to appeal for information about Megan's where abouts. Officers have appealed for information about the whereabouts of a black Ford Fiesta, registration GJ08 RJO, driven by Forrest, from Ringmer, near Lewes.

Spoke to Mr. Naqvi at length on what it was like to be Muslim in the BJP, on whether he had any doubts when the Gujarat riots occurred, and how far the party has been successful in attracting Muslims.

You are the Muslim face of the BJP. How comfortable do you feel in the party?

From the time I joined the BJP in 1986 and today, Zameen asman ka pharak hai (there is a big difference). I feel more comfortable in the BJP now.





There was confusion earlier. Muslims felt this government would be a Hindu sarkar. That perception has been demolished. I'm not trying to say that the BJP is now a hero for Muslims. But, from villain to central role ... Muslims are beginning to think about the BJP's merits and de-merits.

What about the Gujarat riots. Did you wonder which way the party was going? Did you have any doubts?

No. My views were the same as those of the Prime Minister, Advaniji or Venkaiah Naidu. What happened was shameful and inhuman, and there can be no justification ... during the earlier Congress regimes more than 30,000 communal riots took place over 40 years. There was no justification then, no justification for Gujarat now.

I would like to say that if Godhra had not happened and if the riots after Godhra had not taken place, the BJP's regime would have been neat and clean vis-à-vis communal riots. When such incidents took place during the Congress regime, its so-called secular image remained intact. But in the case of the BJP there is this mahaul (atmosphere), our governments have to be more cautious and vigilant.

By a negotiated settlement of the Ayodhya dispute, does the BJP mean Muslims should surrender unconditionally all claims to the disputed site?

The BJP view on a negotiated settlement is clear-cut. Both communities want the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya.

I am talking about the piece of land on which the Babri Masjid stood.

A negotiated settlement would be better than a resolution through a court verdict, but fears and doubts in the minds of both sides would have to be assuaged ... This dispute can be resolved only by a BJP Government. No other party can settle the dispute. I cannot say anything about the possibility of accepting a temple site outside the disputed area. Negotiations are going on, talks have moved forward. Saying anything now would lead to another controversy.

A heavily tattooed man who admitted robbing homes and stealing cars to fund his heroin habit has been charged with shooting at a police officer.

The 37-year-old, whose face is covered with skulls and skeletons, lips are rimmed with skeletal teeth and right eyeball is tattooed black, was swaying from side to side in court, at times hitting his face on the microphone.

The tattooed Barnum, who is photographed on Facebook wearing an iron cross necklace with a swastika in the middle, is associated with seven robberies in the Anchorage Hillside area, most occurring when residents were in their homes.

A business in Malaysia reportedly offered car wash customers free sex after their ninth wash, according to the Malay Mall.

The alleged reward-program-to-end-all-reward-programs was born out of a partnership between the car wash and a massage parlor, police said.

After becoming suspicious that the massage parlor was harboring illicit activity, authorities raided the business and found that several of its patrons had customer cards for the car wash.

The cards offered a little more than your average discount, though.

"To get the extra 'offer,' customers must send their cars for washing nine times within a certain period," Officer Emmi Shah Fadhil said. "The tenth car wash will entitle them to free sex."
