Deepika in Bhanshali's Ramleela, Ranveer is her Ram

Deepika Padukone's name has been finalized for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's dream project Ram Leela. After Kareena,Priyanka,Deepika has been chosen as the lead female face opposite Ranveer Singh who is dating Deepika these days.

As a filmmaker, Sanjay has to his credit some of Bollywood's most talked about contemporary films. Also, when it comes to depicting women, few do it with the flair and expertise that Sanjay does.

Be it Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black, Saawariya or Guzaarish, his cinema has left an indelible mark. As a producer, SLB has also tasted super-duper success with Rowdy Rathore (2012).

But what has really got the trade buzzing is his directorial venture Ram Leela that has been surrounded by controversy from day one — courtesy, the game of musical chairs that the heroines have played. Initial reports said that Kareena Kapoor was to play Leela. She walked out to make place for Priyanka Chopra, and before you could PC, Deepika Padukone was auditioning for the part.

SLB wishes to refrain from commenting on the subject of his Leela. A source close to the maker, however, says that despite having to go through the grind, Sanjay is happy that he finally found his Leela in Deepika. We hear the maker, who is in a very jubilant mood, holds no grudges against Kareena despite the fact that she made an inglorious exit from the film.

In fact, Sanjay, who has shared a very close relationship with Bebo, is only sad that after six months of imagining her to be his Leela, he had to let go because of a lame reason. Our source says, "Sanjay feels Deepika is indeed most suited to play Leela and he fails to understand why he never looked at Deepika in that perspective. She and Ranveer Singh (there was no confusion at all about him playing Ram) bring in so much chemistry to their parts. And when you see these two youngsters, you can see the spark."

According to our source, SLB loves Deepika's earthiness and her fragile lady-like beauty, and he finds it fascinating that she will now play his Leela. Our source adds, "While these casting battles were happening, it was torturous for someone as sensitive as Sanjay. But as they say, all is well that ends well."
