Rural Posting for Doctors?
There are more than 30,000 medical graduates passing out, wow great numbers good for the country huh. I fail to understand what makes a Doctor suffocate his human side and he starts calculating every disease in terms of money.
Every (Almost) medicos entry into medical college starts with empathy and sympathy for the underprivileged, sidelined and are concerned for the poor but by the time he has MBBS tag in his kitty, he is well versed with disease verses money equation.
I fail to understand when this transition takes place. To make these doctors realize write to them (Community should write to them), write about the ones who emphasize poverty and dedicate themselves for the community. Let me put it straight why does money rings in their heads and why do we get that feeling of losing money with every disease.
When you hear about the following disease or symptoms, what generally comes to your mind, well to my mind:
Fever – Rs 500
Vomiting – Rs 1000
Stomach ache – Rs 2000
Minor Fracture – Rs 3000
Major Fracture – Rs 10,000 – 1 Lack
Skin Disease – Jackpot for Doctors
Appendicitis – Rs 30,000
Dental Problems – Rs 15,000-50,000
The List is unending and look at the degradation of doctor’s community from God to yesterdays to demons of present day.
I would ask the taxpayers to wake up and the Govt. to stop subsidizing medical education.
